Students, Parent, and Guardians,

On Monday, April 13, 2020, Uinta County School District #1 will be going back to school, albeit virtually. Following the guidance of Governor Mark Gordon and Superintendent of Public Instruction Jillian Balow found in Memorandum No. 2020-044, UCSD #1 has developed an “Adaptive Learning Plan”. The plan was approved by UCSD #1’s Board of Trustees on March 31, 2020, and by the Wyoming Department of Education (WDE) on April 2, 2020. Student participation in this new learning plan is compulsory.

UCSD #1’s Adaptive Learning Plan represents the transition from traditional schooling to an online, remote, virtual learning format. UCSD #1’s instructional staff will provide robust learning opportunities for all students Kindergarten through Twelfth grade beginning on Monday, April 13, 2020. This method of instructional delivery will continue until students are able to safely return to traditional school. That decision to return to school will be made by Governor Gordon, State Superintendent Balow, and the State Health Officer.

These are unprecedented times, switching to an online, virtual, remote format in a matter of weeks will be challenging for our students and for our instructional staff. We have asked our teachers to start slow, just like the first day/week of traditional school. We anticipate unforeseen challenges, hurdles, and we may stumble rolling out this new learning plan.

Education in our community requires a joint effort between students, parents/guardians, and UCSD #1. We ask for your understanding, patience, and support with this new learning plan. We ask for your feedback moving forward, stay in touch with teachers and administration. The learning curve for students and instructional staff will be steep, and we will get better at online learning. We are in this together for our children, and we will be doing our best.

Students and Parents/Guardians will need to monitor their email accounts as more information and additional details will be forthcoming before 4/13 from their student’s teachers or their schools. If you think that your contact information with the school(s) is not current, please call 789-7571 and leave a message to set up a time to update your contact information as that will be our primary means of communicating with parents/guardians.

Sincerely,

UCSD #1 Administration
